Laney Ironheart Quick Demo

Okay here we go with a little rough and ready demo of the Laney Ironheart I9;ve just spent half an hour recording. This 6L6 (changeable to EL34) powered amp head is clearly aimed at the metal crowd but it has a lovely clean channel and the two dirt channels are capable of a bluesy crunch.

The amp features a solid state boost at the front end and a serial FX loops, both of which can be switched out of the signal path. The boost can be engaged on any channel. As far as I can tell so far the rhythm and lead channels are identical, The only difference being that the rhythm channel shares a three band eq (and pull pot controls) with the clean channel.

...

Anyway Here's a little demo of my new Laney Ironheart. Some caveats - I've only had the amp for a day so still exploring the sonic possibilities and also this was recorded with a single mic at pretty neighbour friendly volumes. The amp's power setting wasn't at the lowest (one watt) setting, instead something like 20 watts. As ever with my little gear demos - drums by EZ Drummer, recorded via Reaper.

Oh and as ever I'm very sorry about the sloppy playing. :)

All tones from the Laney Ironheart. Some tracks have a little delay via a TC Electronic Flashback pedal in the FX loop, otherwise it's all the amp, including the reverb. Oh and the guitar was my PRS SE Custom which has an IronGear Hot Slag pickup in the bridge and Rolling Mill in the neck position.

Update: My apologies for the poor quality recording. I've been struggling to get a decent signal from my mic into my computer interface. I think the mic may be faulty, or perhaps I need to use some compression after the interface input. Certainly it's not as good a quality (in context) recording as the Cub one I did a little while ago. So stay tuned for a better recording of the Lionheart - especially of the clean and low-gain tones.

Update 2: Great. Got this sorted now. Found better mic/pre-amp settings on my interface. So look out for a much better and more natural recording in the next few days.
