Shooting the Welsh and Driving Tanks
Now there are some strange laws out there, including my own personal favourite of being allowed to shoot any Welshman found within the City walls in Chester after midnight (I think the actual ruling is that you need to be Sheriff of Chester as well).
In fact the other day I was in a conversation with someone about snow chains, they said you weren?t allowed them on the road, I said I wasn?t aware of that ruling, but I was aware that you weren?t supposed to drive tanks and any other tracked vehicle on public roads, due to the fact that they mess the road surface up.
Anyway what caught my ear this morning was Radio 5 Live?s Nicky Campbell running through a few news items that had caught his interest. One of these items was about a man who had been fined after putting some junk mail he?d received in a public litter bin. By all accounts it is illegal to dispose of domestic refuse from your property in a public litter bin and carries a fine of £50!!
My guess is that this is all tied up in the legislation that now says that you need a licence to empty refuse from the back of a pickup truck in a local civic amenity site.

UPDATE: The Council involved have decided on this occasion to wave the fine and will instead concentrate on publicising the dangers of putting domestic household waste in public bins! :o)

All a bit mad really isn't it? I heard the council trying to justify this in a radio interview.
