Syd Barrett Has Died

The Crazy Diamond himself, Syd Barrett has died at the age of 60. I can't think of anything else to say really. It's really sad news . Syd's story isn't a happy one and I'd always hoped he'd got on stage with Floyd one more time, just like the character based on him in Still Crazy.
Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
"He died very peacefully a couple of days ago," said a spokeswoman for Pink Floyd. "There will be a private family funeral."
Lets leave the final words to Syd himself, with the wonderful See Emily Play.

Yes very sad, I heard on the radio it was something to do with complications connected to his diabetes. At least he has left us with some great music like 'Set Controls for the Heart of the Sun' and 'Careful With That Axe Eugene' and of course we'd never had had Shine on You Crazy Diamond if there had been no Syd. A great legacy.
